Our Trustees

Dave Kennedy

Chairman, Trustee

Being a Trustee is an especially important role particularly when it comes to a local small Charity. I have been involved in Charity fundraising for a number of years and continue to carry out this role for Memories Are Golden. Trustees have an important role to oversee the operation of the Charity. To this end my role as a Trustee is very important.

Kelly Kennedy-Smith

Hub Manager, Memories Are Golden

Memories Are Golden is very special to me. It has been incredibly rewarding to see it grow over the last couple of years. I love to see a smile on everyone’s faces and watch them enjoying themselves, but most of all I love seeing them building friendships.

The hub is run by community carers who are all amazing to work with. We have 6 caring and understanding volunteers that help us throughout the week. We have many regular attendees, most of whom come for at least 3 days a week. We make sure to get to know all individuals on a personal level and get to understand their needs, likes and dislikes. We incorporate their interests into our activity weeks, too. They enjoy days out, especially the seaside and to see them enjoying the sea air and having fish & chips along the promenade is heart-warming.

Deborah Theobald

Trustee, Treasurer

I have volunteered for Memories Are Golden for the past 6 years and felt I wanted to give more to this amazing charity.
Having experienced the effects of dementia firsthand, I hope I can bring a viewpoint from the families perspective, as well as from that of a volunteer.

Corinne Wood

Trustee

I first came across Memories Are Golden when my mum was diagnosed with Dementia.  She became a regular visitor to the Hub several times a week & vastly improving her quality of life on a daily basis. This friendly & caring team take time to interact with everyone, provide fun activities and have regular trips out to the seaside or afternoon tea etc.

I became a Trustee to help to ensure that anyone else finding themselves in this position will also continue to receive the support and care from this fabulous charity and the team that we were so lucky to receive.

Elaine Simmons

Trustee

I became aware of Memories Are Golden and the amazing work they do when we shared a premises at Park Road in Haverhill. I could see what a difference the team make, not only to the lives of the attendees but also in the support they give to family members and carers.

Having worked in adult education for over 20 years, I believe that I have skills and experience which will enhance those that the team already have. As I have an elderly parent with dementia, I am aware of how difficult and isolating this condition can be for everyone, and I am keen to help where I can, to make a real difference in the lives of those members of our local community who need help and support.

When I became aware that the charity was seeking Trustees, I happily volunteered and I am looking forward to becoming more involved and making a meaningful contribution, so that the great work they do can continue and grow.

Lisa Taylor

Trustee

I first learned about Memories Are Golden in 2019 while working in the same building. I had the opportunity to witness firsthand what an incredible organisation they are and the fantastic experiences they offer to their attendees

With a background in the charity sector, I feel that I have the experience and the skills to make a significant impact to help make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need support the most.

When our organisations relocated, I realised I would no longer see the attendees and watch the organisation evolve and that saddened me.

They advertised that they were seeking Trustees, and I quickly volunteered my services. I am thrilled to become more involved and contribute in any way I can to ensure they continue to support so many individuals in our community.
